2019-2020

The Terraforming was a think tank located in Moscow which focused on the long-term design of planetary systems, given the convergence of climate collapse and ambient automation.

Researchers, climate scientists, writers, journalists, designers, artists, and architects convened from across the world to create governance proposals for active carbon drawdown, space law, agricultural systems design, and energy transitions.

Alongside a team, I developed a proposal for nuclear-powered carbon sequestration in the Russian Arctic which leverages the chemical reaction between carbon and basalt.

The Terraforming was based out of the now defunct Strelka Institute, which was forced to close following the 2022 invasion of Ukraine.
Our proposal identified the total capacity for carbon sequestration in the Siberian Traps, the world’s largest basalt province, indicated in red.

We proposed infrastructure corridors, workforce needs, permaforst contraints, and cost requirements for burying 1,000 Gt of CO2 by the year 2100.
